Reiki FAQs

What is Reiki?

The word Reiki is usually translated as “universal life energy.”  It is a holistic healing system, meaning that it treats the whole being, addressing problems and healing at all levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. By stimulating the body’s natural healing ability at the deepest level, it can remove physical and emotional blockages that may have been causing illness or upset for some time. Since Reiki is an energetic healing system, it can be performed either in person with physical contact or from great distances.

During the Reiki session, you will lie fully clothed on a massage table.  There will be relaxing music playing.  There is generally no touching, though occasionally I may lightly touch your head or feet with your permission.  Often clients reach such a deep state of relaxation, they fall asleep!

Reiki works in harmony with all other kinds of treatment. If you or your animal companion has a health condition, it is recommended that you seek professional medical treatment in addition to using Reiki to support you or your animal and aid in the healing.

You need not believe in nor understand Reiki for it to work. Just as you may not be able to explain how a radio works, you can nevertheless enjoy the programming on a particular station.

Energy work is not a substitute for traditional Medical treatment, if someone has a serious health imbalance they should see a Doctor or other appropriate professional, and make complementary healing part of a complete health care program

What is Animal Reiki?

Generally, when Reiki is given to an animal, it is done from a short distance away. Each animal is allowed to decide for himself or herself just what that distance will be, from hands-on to many yards away. If circumstances require, distance Reiki could be sent to the animal.

The duration of a Reiki session will vary by the situation and the clients (human and animal). Generally, an in-person treatment will last about one hour, though animals will often prefer an abbreviated session. Distant treatments are usually 15-30 minutes in length. Chronic conditions may require several treatments to produce significant healing results.

Each animal will have its own unique response during the Reiki session. Most will relax quickly and often settle down for a nap during the treatment. Be aware they will often have increased thirst and eliminations following a treatment. Very occasionally an animal will have a “healing reaction” where his or her symptoms or behavior initially appears worse after a treatment. However, this reaction should be brief and temporary.

When could Reiki help my animal or myself?

  • You or your animal companion has suffered abuse or trauma of any sort.
  • You or your animal companion is exhibiting pains of aging.
  • You or your animal companion is stressed about something.
  • You need “permission” to just relax
  • You feel something is missing or wrong with your life

What is Animal Communication?

Animal communication involves an energetic (telepathic) connection between the animal and the Animal Communicator.  Anyone can actually re-learn how to communicate with animals.  When we as human beings begin to speak verbally, we tend to shut down our telepathic abilities which allow us to speak to animals.  With time, patience and practice everyone can reconnect to their in-born telepathic abilities.  No, you won’t suddenly start to “read” everyone’s mind – though you could work towards that if you wished!  Animals tend to be easier to communicate with telepathically than humans because they don’t put up walls around themselves.  They WANT to talk with us!

Communicating telepathically with an animal involves mentally sending and receiving thoughts, feelings and images.  In all actuality, you are probably receiving more communication from your animal than you realize.  Often, we tend to discount what we think our animal is telling us as simply “reading body language” or being familiar with our animal.  In truth, you have probably received a communication from your animal.

This telepathic communication requires us to become more in-tune with our intuition. As with any muscle, our intuition requires exercising or practice.  Just as a mother usually knows what her infant wants, just as a long-time-married couple usually know what each other is thinking, so it is with animal communication.  With practice, you too can do this!

Why is Animal Communication helpful?  Or why use the services of an Animal Communicator?

  • Find out what your animal is thinking or get his/her opinion.  Would he like a companion?  What’s wrong with his food?  How is she feeling?
  • Get some history from an adopted animal
  • Address behavioral issues.
  • Get help locating a lost animal.
  • Achieve a general understanding of your animal companion.
